Sign up for the birds race

Would you like to chase birds next weekend and be part of a thrilling event?

You don’t have to be a bird watcher to sign up; you just need to be adventurous to join the 4th HSBC Chennai Bird Race to be held on January 23.

This is organised by the Madras Naturalists’ Society along with Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) and Yuhina Eco-Media.

Abhiramapuram-based K V Sudhakar, event executive and MNS veteran gives all freshers who wish to join this event tips on how to enjoy it.

This is a one-day event and is open to experienced and budding birdwatchers. The idea is to spend an entire day spotting and identifying birds in Pallikaranai marshes, Nanmangalam scrub jungle and Muttukadu backwaters.

Participants will be divided into groups of four. You will need to carry a note pad, pen and binoculars (if you possess one), water and some snacks. Having a four-vehicle will be an added advantage.

At the end of the day reports will be evaluated and the winner will be awarded.

This is open to the first 50 teams. Registrations close by January 19.
