A. N. Chandrasekaran, aged 73 and a senior employee of Southern Railways passed away on May 17.
He had been a resident of Mylapore for his entire life.
He was employed as a Senior Motorman in Southern Railways. He retired from service after 38 years and gained the reputation of being a highly respected colleague at the workplace.
His well-wishers said that he was also a philanthropist.
Over the past decade rarely was a pradosham conducted at the Sri Karneeswarar Temple without his active participation.
He leaves behind his wife, sons and daughter.
