Book on dance guru Dandayudapani Pillai to be released on June 5

K. N. Dandayudapani Pillai was a legendary Bharatanatyam guru.

His daughter and disciple, Dr. Uma Anand who is a professor at Annamalai University, Chidambaram is hosting an event on June 5, Sunday to release a book on the legend.

The book is titled ‘K. N. Dandayudapani Pillai: Life and Contribution’ and the event is at at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, 10 a.m.onwards.

Prof. C. V. Chandrasekar, Bharathanatyam exponent and former HOD, Dance, Baroda University will release the book and the first copy will be received by Nandini Ramani, Bharathanatyam exponent and art critic.

Adyar K. Lakshmanan, senior Bharathanatyam guru is the chief guest.

A video with clippings of excerpts of dance choreography by Dandayudapani Pillai will be screened. There will also be a performance from his compositions.
