Music and dance: Abhangs, concerts, plays

The Lotus foundation is organising a live vocal concert ‘Listen to my heart’ a tribute to Bharathi. Vocal by Gokul, mridangam by Chinmay, kanjira by Jai. It will be held on Dec.2 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore at 5.30 p.m.

There will be a keyboard concert by H. Sai Prasanth, accompanied by Parur M. K. Anathalakshmi on violin and D. Karthik on the mridangam on Nov.27 at the Chennai Corporation Park, Fifth Cross Street, CIT Colony, Mylapore. It will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. This is part of the “Music in the Park” monthly programme, organised on the last Sunday of every month. All are welcome.

Shree Prakash Cultural Heritage Research Centre is conducting a 2 months music course in Abhangs and Marathi Bhajans. It will be held at Ramana Kendra, 41, Alamelumangapuram, Mylapore. The course starts on Dec.4 and will be held on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 11.30 a.m..
12 Abhangs will be taught. A book containing all the Abhangs with musical notation and meanings is available at the venue for Rs100.  This is open to all music lovers and students. For registration call 2461 2291, 98844 24988.

Unarviyam, a theatre company is presenting the play ‘The Looter’s Looty’ on Dec.4 at 6 p.m. at Thiruvaduthurai T. N. Rajarathinam Auditorium, R. A. Puram. This 60 min play is a full length comedy play mixed with mime and English drama. The play is about an intelligent thief who steals not to make a living, but for his immense passion towards thievery.
