Balambal Krishnan a resident of Krishnaswamy Avenue passed away on Dec.9.
She was born in 1924 to R. Narayanaswami Iyer (founder, Madras Law Journal and Kalaimagal magazine) and Balasundari Ammal.
She studied at the Santhome Convent and passed her intermediate from Queen Mary’s College with honours.
She was married to K. N. Krishnan, an officer in the Indian Railways.
Balambal used to bake since 1958, when baking was not so common in the Mylapore community, says a family member.
She lost her husband, K. N. Krishnan and two sons K. Narayanan and K. Narasimhan at a very young age.
Balambal completed the metal murals left half done by her son Narayan and had an exhibition with it.
She is survived by her daughter -in -laws Renuka K. Narasimhan and Chitra Narayanan.
