Burglary in CIT Colony; gold and cash stolen

About 50 sovereigns of gold and cash is said to have been stolen from a house in Bishop Wallers Avenue West, CIT Colony, Mylapore on Saturday.

The house belongs to S. Govindasamy (70), a retired employee of Ashok Leyland.

The burglary took place in the first floor of the house where his son, Vijayakumar resided with his family.

Members of the Vijayakumar’s family had locked their house and had come down to spend time with the elderly couple in the afternoon when the burglary took place.

Police suspect the burglars gained entry through the terrace of the adjoining building or it could be the work of an insider.

This house is in a street adjacent tothe residence of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
