Sringeri Jagadguru at mutt in R. A. Puram; here till July 1

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji of Sringeri who is touring Chennai reached the Sringeri Jagadguru Pravachana Mandiram in R. A. Puram on June 28 evening.

It began to rain much before the swamiji reached this place opposite the Mandaveli MRTS station . At the venue, members of Sringeri Jagadguru Pravachana Mandiram were ready to welcome the Swamiji.

At the main entrance, men devotees waited for his arrival. The entrance was decorated with flowers around the banner, welcoming the Swamiji.

A tent was set up on the pathway to the hall. The women lined up till the entrance of the hall. They held plates containing two lamps.

The Swamiji came in a car and was welcomed with poorna kumbam and led to the hall , joining a procession of the women holding the lamps.

In the hall men and women were seated separately on the ground, where already, upanyasam was going on, on the side stage. There were devotees outside the hall sitting on chairs.

As soon as the Swamiji entered the doors were guarded by women volunteers, though the incoming devotees wanted to get in.

Pada puja was performed. Then Vedas were recited. Everyone was asked to stand up and there was a recital in Sanskrit to welcome him.

Everyone then prostrated before the swamiji. There were  television sets installed both inside and outside of the hall, to broadcast the event to the larger crowd.

The Swamiji was welcomed with a swagatha patrika that was read out in sanskrit. It was translated to Tamil later. He received it. The Swamiji gave the anugraha bhashanam which was precise, in which he said that he would speak elaborately in an upanyasam later.

In his anugraha bhashanam, he remembered his visit to the same place with his guru and the kumbabishekams performed earlier to the temple in this premises.

He said that Saradambal Chandramouliswara pooja was earlier conducted on the opposite side of the stage and today it will happen on the stage where he was sitting.

He appreciated the efforts made by organizers of the program and said that he was asked for a date to perform the kumbabishekam one year before. A section of the crowd disbursed while some waited to take part in  the pooja.

Outside, the drizzle continued and then stopped.

The swami is at this venue till July 1 evening.
