Sringeri Jagadguru camps at bunglaw on R. K. Salai

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal of Sringeri, who is touring Chennai, reached Sudharma in R. K. Salai on evening of July 1.

He was received with a procession of devotees accompanied by Nadaswaram, vadyam and vedic chants.

Carnatic singer, Sudha Ragunathan rendered the invocation song.

There was a public meeting. The welcome address was read out in Sanskrit, by Brahmasri Godda Venkateswara Sastri.

Then, there was an anugraha bhashanam given by His Holiness. He spoke on the importance of chathurmasya vratam for sanyasis. He remembered his Guruji’s visit to Chennai for chathurmasya vratam fifty two years back.

Usually this vratam takes place for two lunar calendar months. This time it will be observed for three months in accordance with tradition.

Then,  Sudha Ragunathan performed a vocal concert.

Then His Holiness performed Sri Saradambal Chandramouliswara pooja.

He is scheduled to observe Chathurmasya vratam in Sudharma, for three months.
