Art galleries exhibit special shows this week for Art Chennai event

Christ-Through-Millennium-1Art Chennai is an annual city-wide event where art galleries display the best works of city, Indian and a few international artists and art is displayed in the open and in public spaces.

A few art galleries in this neighborhood are part of this show and the events hosted here are unfolding now.

This morning Vinyasaa Gallery in CIT Colony is unveiling a show titled ‘ Jesus the Millennium’ by Pradipta Mohapatra. Later this evening, Carnatic music vocalist opens the small formats art works of the celebrated C Douglas at Sri Parvati Gallery on Eldams Road, Alwarpet.

Christ-Through-MillenniumAt 6.30 p.m., Focus Art Gallery in Alwarpet’s TTK Road will open the works of India’s top artists including those of city-based Achuthan Kudallur.

On February 12 evening, a public exhibition of vintage photos of this city taken in the 18th century will be held on Marina beach, near the Gandhi statue area.

Chamiers, the lifestyle space on Chamiers Road unveiled a painting show on the weekend. Displayed here are the works of India’s best including those of Asma Menon.
