Alwarpet resident and a former international basketball player, P. K. Suriyanarayana Raja passed away on Monday 10, March. He was 72. He was a vice-president of the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association.
Raja was from Rajapalayam and he studied at St. Xavier’s College (Palayamkottai) and at Madras Law College.
He played for Madras University for four years and as an officer with State Bank of India, he was an integral player for the bank’s team.
He also played for Tamil Nadu in national championships and went on to don the Indian colors in a few tournaments.
He leaves behind his wife and son. The funeral will be held on Wednesday. Contact 24996889.
