Veteran vocalist Modumudi Sudhakar to perform at Luz venue

Carnatic music rasikas are remembering a great – ThiruvengAdu Sri Jayaraman – with a special concert by less heard but accomplished artistes at the Arkay Centre on March 28 evening.
“This year we are bringing to you Modumodi Sri Sudhakar, the family descendant of Parupalli Ramakrishnayya Pantulu, guru of Dr. M.Balamuralikrishna,” says a note from the organizers.
The artistes are Modumudi Sudhakar – Vocal, Palaparti Nageswara Rao – Violin, Ganapathy Raman – mrudangam from 6 pm.

 Modumudi Sudhakar hails from the family of Parupalli Ramakrishnayya Pantulu, a great guru of Dr. M.Balamuralikrishna. He is a Top grade Carnatic vocalist working as Grade-1 music composer in All India Radio, Vijayawada for the past 23 years. Sudhakar learnt music from violin maestro Annavarapu Ramaswamy. He has given more than 5000 public performances all over India and at the Cleveland Music Festival, U.S.A. Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham felicitated him with the title Asthana Vidwan in 2010. As a composer, he composed nearly 500 devotional & light songs.

He established Swara Jhari, a music sabha at Vijayawada and has been successfully running it since 26 years. He has many students in the country and abroad.

Palaparti Nageswara Rao belongs to a music family. He is a retired lecturer of violin in the Govt. Music College, Vijayawada. He has toured all over the country and abroad with well known musicians.

B. Ganapathy Raman is the son of Seethalapathi Balasubramaniam, a disciple of Papanasam Sivan. Ganapathy Raman learnt mrudangam playing from the illustrious guru Kumbakonam M Rajappa Iyer.
