The Sri Thiagaraja Sangeetha Vidwath Samajan is celebrating Thiagaraja Jayanthi from May 6-10. The festivities begin with a Ganapathi Homan at 5.30 a.m. on May 6. This will be followed by an Upanishad Vedaparayanam and Abhisekham at 8 a.m. At 6 p.m. the inaugural function will be held with Padmabhushan T.N.Seshagopalan as the chief guest. The “Sangeetha Seva Nirata” title will be conferred on Vocalists D.Pasupathi and Suguna Varadhachari, Saxophone Vidwan-Kadri Gopalnath, Mridangam Vidwan- Srimushnam Raja Rao, and Violinist-M.A.Sundareswaran. From May 7-10, a series of music concerts by noted artists will be held at 6.30 p.m. On May 11, an Ekadina Laksharchana on Lord Rama will be held at 9 a.m. Those interested can contact the samajan at No.10, Thiagarajapuram, Mylapore.
