Mylai C. Periyaswamy, popularly known as the promoter of Chandra Travels on East Mada St., Mylapore passed away Nov.19 evening. He had been ailing for some time and had a fatal heart attack while still in hospital in Alwarpet. The funeral is scheduled for Friday as the family awaits the arrival of Periyaswamy’s son who is in the USA.
Periyaswamy was well known in Mylapore. He had arrived here in the 1970s, worked in various places before setting up his own business here. His travel services and real estate business grew manifold.
He headed the Mylapore sangam of business enterprises as well as Tamil Nadu small business associations for many years. He carried a lot of clout locally and in they city.
He was 67. He leaves behind his wife and three children.
His body has been kept at his residence on East Mada Street and since morning on Friday, scores of people have been arriving here to pay their respects.
