he T. S. Balakrishna Sastrigal award of excellence will be conferred on dancer Uma Shriram of Nrithyodaya by Y. Prabhu, general secretary, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, at a function to be held at Tattvaloka Hall, Eldams Road, on Aug 30. The award will include a citation and a cheque for Rs. 25,000.
Dancers Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam (guru of the awardee) and Nandini Ramani will felicitate. An audio CD – ‘Sundhara Kaandam – Harikatha live in USA in 1983’ by T. S. Balakrishna Sastrigal will be released. This will be followed by a performance by Dvijavanthi Bharath. 3 p.m. onwards.
