Members of residents’ association regulate traffic at Kapali Temple

Mylapore residents welfare association traffic regulationFor more than two months now, the members of Mylapore Residents’ Welfare Association (MRWA) have been regulating traffic outside Sri Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Mylapore during pradosham.

S. Srinivasan, an executive committee member says, “During pradosham, more than 1000 devotees visit the temple. Many of them often take their autos right up to the temple entrance at Ponnambalam Vadiyar Street thereby making it difficult for walkers to access the temple. For about two hours in the evening, we don’t allow vehicles to enter this street”.

Srinivasan who is in charge of this operation does it with the help of a few volunteers and the police. “We have a lot of help from the police. More than 7 police personnel, including women, help us regulate the traffic at all the access points”.
