Market spaces in Mylapore, Mandaveli and Luz are being cleared to set up stalls that will offer all you need for the Pongal harvest festival celebration this weekend.
Hawkers on South Mada Street said that banana leaves, pumpkins, sugarcane and more will arrive at the hawking zones on the streets by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
There is also a demand for kolam powder at the street shops that sell them.
Many community bodies in Mylapore have lined up their own localized Pongal events.
One such is to be held at the St Thomas Cathedral with traditional games and contests in kolam / rangoli lined up.
