Another community body launches campaign in Mylapore

Yet another community-based body has launched its civic-based activities in the neighbourhood.

Arappor Iyakkam’s Mylapore chapter held a community meet on April 17 at Nageswara Rao Park, Luz.

A few key local issues were raised by the people who were at the meet.

These included urging Metrowater to complete its work on P S Sivaswami Salai since the local AE said it would take 3 more months to fix the problem, fixing the two sunk-in sections of R K Mutt Road opposite the BSNL office in Mandaveli and making the one-way traffic system on Royapettah  High Road and Luz Church Road a ‘two-way’ traffic system.

Other issues raised were ‘fixing’ the opening in the Buckingham Canal in R A Puram which led to the December deluge flooding the area, gas agency godown location in residential area posing serious danger, encroachments outside Saibaba Temple, encroachments on Canal near the same area, MRTS station zones packed with rubble and waste.

Each Mylaporean who attended the meet and assured support has been given the job of following-up on the issues.
