Food safety officials seize stale food at Marina Beach

At a raid held at the food stalls at Marina Beach on Friday, the food safety and revenue officials seized more than 100 kg of stale food and banned tobacco products.

More than 250 stalls along the 3 km stretch from lighthouse to Anna Square were checked for adulteration, addition of food colours and hygiene. Several of them were found to be selling rotten fish and expired ice-creams, biscuits and soft drinks.

The vendors were let off with a stern warning.
