Aadi velli, Aadi pooram at Sri Kapali Temple

On the Fridays in the month of Aadi, special prayers are held on this day at Amman temples.

At Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore, an abhishekam will be held for goddess Karpagambal (moolavar) every Friday. Devotees who bring bangles will be allowed to offer them to the deity. A special alangaram will adorn the deity every Friday.

D. Kaveri, the executive officer of the temple says, “We are expecting 10, 000 people every Friday. Barricades will be set up inside the temple to facilitate the smooth movement of people. Devotees can either avail of the free darshan facility or can purchase a Rs.50 ticket on those days”.

Aadi pooram falls on July 26 this year. An abhishekam will be held for goddess Karpagambal (utsavar) on that day near the temple tank in the morning. At 12 p.m. a moolavar abhishekam will be held followed by a veedi purappadu on the Gandharvi vahanam in the evening.
