If the proposed plans of Metro rail go through then Luz Circle will become a busy junction for the Metro and have to be a key inter-nodal transport centre.
Three corridors are visualised and in the state budget.
The three corridors are: Madhavaram to Siruseri (45.77km), Madhavaram to Sholinganallur (44.66km) and CMBT to Light House (17.12km).
Of the 107 km plus stretch, more than half would be underground and the remaining elevated.
One corridor starts from Madhavaram at the northern end and runs up to Siruseri at the southern end for a distance of 45.77 km. This one will connect important centres such as Moolakadai, Perambur, Purasawalkam, Kilpauk, Gemini, Luz, Adyar, Tiruvamiyur, Perungudi, Sholinganallur and Navalur.
Another corridor starts from Light House and runs up to CMBT for 17.2 km. It will connect places like Luz, Nandanam, Vadapalani and CMBT.
Which means a lot of civic work will be taking place in the Mylapore-Luz-Alwarpet zone in the years to come. And later, this neighbourhood will have some smart connectivity.
