Sivaji Ganesan memorial in R. A. Puram to be opened on Oct.1

The memorial for late actor Sivaji Ganesan constructed in R. A. Puram will be opened formally on October 1. Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi  K. Palaniswami will open this memorial, a mani mandapam which was announced by late J. Jayalalithaa.

It has been built at a cost of Rs.2.8 crore. October 1 is the birthday of the actor.

A state government media release said that besides state ministers, members of the Sivaji family and of the film community will participate in the event.

The work on this mandapam was over some weeks ago. A statue of the late actor which stood on Kamaraj Salai, off the Marina was shifted here – after a court ruled that the statue had to be removed from this busy traffic junction.

It is not clear what the mandapam will offer visitors.

This campus is next to the Durgabai Deshmukh hospital on the south side, closer to the Adyar river and bridge.
