Yesterday, the city received the heaviest spell of rain since Dec 1 2015. IG Office, marina, received 290 mm total yesterday. In the Mylapore area, the day started off on a bright note, it was sunny till about 3 p.m. Then the clouds gathered and rain started falling. Many parts of Luz Avenue, Venus Colony, Seethammal Colony, Mandavelipakkam did not have electricity throughout the night.
The Meteorological Department has attributed this to a low pressure area over Sri Lanka and southwest Bay of Bengal and has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day today. Schools will remain closed and will reopen on Monday, Nov 6.
