The community at the St Thomas Cathedral in San Thome have been invited to support a special Christmastime effort – to donate funds to provide dry foodstuff to the families of prisoners in Central Jail, Puzhal, Chennai.
The Prison Ministry of the Catholic diocese is behind this social reach-out.
Families can donate Rs.750 which will go to buy rice, dhal, cooking oil and sugar which will be given to some 200-plus families of prisoners whose cases / trials have seen the inmates remain in jails for over 10/15 years.
The donations will be collected on the eve of Christmas and the foodstuff delivered to the chosen families thereafter by Ministry team.
