As it rains, time to look if Mylapore has tapped all rainwater logging spots

As Mylapore gets spells of rain, it is time to look at rainwater harvesting systems/measures in public spaces in the area.

Many years ago, the state under late Jayalalithaa was pushy on getting civic agencies to put up systems to tap large volumes of water – on flyovers and under, in Corporation spaces and temple tanks and on streets and roads.

Most, at a cursory look around are in disrepair.

Many months ago, the MLA of Mylapore, R. Nataraj said publicly that with the help of civic agencies some 100 ‘soak pits’ would be sunk in street/road sides where water stagnates; to tap it.

HAVE YOU SEEN SUCH WORK DONE IN YOUR AREA?

Mylapore Times would like feedback from all corners – Abhiramapuram, Sivaswami Salai, Luz, San Thome, R A Puram, KVB Gardens as it begins to look at the RWH issues around.

Mail 3/4 lines at – mytimesedit@gmail.com. If the pits have not been made, discuss simple systems that can tap water logging for long hours in your street/colony/road.
