Police ban traffic on Marina’s service road near Light House every morning

Police will enforce a ban on cars and bikes using the service road of the Marina Beach on all mornings, from 5 am to 8 am. This decision follows complaints from walkers here that the movement of vehicles and rash driving affected their walks.

The service road section from behind Gandhi statue, near Vivekananda Coffee restaurant to the Light House end in the south will fall under this rule this week.

People who head to this part of the beach have been asked to park vehicles at the Light House end.

While many walkers prefer to walk on the Marina pavement, others use the service roads. Over one thousand people are seen here every morning, some as early as 4 a.m.
