The founder-promoter of Shankar IAS Academy, D. Shankaran was found dead in his residence on on Krishnaswami Avenue, Luz on Thursday.
Police said that he was found hanging from a ceiling fan and it was a case of suicide. They said his friend had rushed Shankaran to the government hospital in Royapettah and doctors declared it to be a case of ‘ brought dead’.
Shankaran set up the Academy in 2004 in order to coach youths keen to write the civil services exam and join the services. The first centre was in Anna Nagar in the city. A few more were started elsewhere later.

It is an irreparable loss to the teaching fraternity in general and civil services aspirants in particular. I am told that he was the man of high values and with unlimited knowledge of the subjects he taught at his academy preparing for administrative jobs. But what defeated his life to the extent that he had to commit suicide that nobody ought to think of is a question mark to the society facing failed matrimonial life as he had a fierce arguments and fights with his wife before he chose to hang himself in his bedroom. The intellectuals all across need to come forth, ponder over the issue and strive to lead the society where people should live fullest of their life meaningfully.
