Ras Barse Utsav, an intitiative of Pt. S. Ballesh and his son Krishna Ballesh to honour their gurus Ustad Bismillah Khan and Pt. Sanna Bharamanna Gawai, will be held on Nov 9 at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet.
The event will start off with solo performances by mohan veena exponent Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and shehnai artiste Pt. S. Ballesh. A jugalbandhi by both the artistes will follow.
Later awards will be handed over to several artistes. The ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan and Pt. Sanna Bharamanna Gawai Smarak Kala Ratna Award’ will be presented to Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Purushothaman, rhythms player and violinist Srinivasa Murthy will be given the Gaurav Puraskar award. Sitar player Aranyakumar, a disciple of sarod guru Pt. Rajeev Taranath, will receive the Yuva Kala Puraskar award.
