GCC plants trees along neighbourhood streets

In an ace move to increase greenery in the city, the greater Chennai Corporation has planted tree saplings along the sides of Rosary Church street in San Thome. Residents on Saturday woke up to workers planting trees with enclosures dug at every ten feet.

Zahabiya, a student living in the same street, was pleasantly surprised to see these on her way to her classes on Saturday morning. “This is so great, the street looks so beautiful now. I hope the residents maintain them”, she said.

The work was completed before the end of the day and the streets were lined with peepal tree and other native tree saplings of 4-5 feet height.

  1. I really appreciate the initiative by Greater Chennai corporation in beautification of streets. Every resident should take equal responsibility in maintenance by watering and taking care of there streets. By not allowing any miscreants to remove them. And also to not use as garbage repository.
Such initiative is for our good use.
