Local area becomes theatre on eve of Lok Sabha poll

The neighbourhood became a theatre of meets, talks and deals for political parties in the run-up to Lok Sabha elections on two occasions recently.

Last evening, the AIADMK, BJP and PMK formally sealed an alliance for the poll on seat sharing. The BJP’s Piyush Goyal with chief minister E. Palaniswami and his deputy and PMK’s Ramadoss and his son Anbumani shook hands and held them high in the lobby of Hotel Crowne Plaza off TTK Road.

A few small parties are also part of the deal.

This signalled the seats deal that was inked.

Some days earlier, the sprawling bungalow of industrialist late Pollachi Mahalingam on St. Mary’s Road was the cool confine for BJP minister Piyush Goyal to converse with the AIADMK leaders to work out the alliance and seat sharing.

The trailing media located the venue easily and OB vans of TV channels stayed put at the gates of this mansion.
