On the occasion of Vaikasi pournami (May 18), volunteers of Sri Kapali temple lighted thousand lamps (lakshdeepam) around the temple ‘ s tank.
Lakshdeepam was seen on May 19 and 20 as well.
On May 20, the last day of Lakshdeepam, devotees, tourists and the passersby gathered around the four gates to look at the beautiful tank.
“It used to look even more beautiful when the tank used to be full of water, many years ago,” said a senior devotee to her grandson. Later, the duo walked past the tank with a hope of getting rain at least next time.
