Abhiramapuram resident contributes for construction of recharge wells at public spaces

To promote the cause of Rain Water Harvesting (RWH), Abhiramapuram resident Vasanthi Rajiv has donated Rs.36000 to the local Chennai Corporation unit (ward 123) for the construction of recharge wells at the roadsides.

“Since some time, I have been urging my neighbours for constructing recharge wells on our street. However, we found that there was not much water logging here. Hence, I decided to contribute towards RWH at water stagnant public spaces in my neighborhood,” says Vasanthi, who has been maintaining proper RWH systems at her house in Janaki Avenue, Abhiramapuram.

Vasanthi says that her friend Ganesh, an Alwarpet resident informed her that residents can contribute towards RWH at public places. “Ganesh has also contributed towards the construction of a recharge well outside his house at C.P.Ramaswamy Road, “she says.

Using her donation, Arul Maran, AE of ward 123 says they have sunk recharge wells at St.Mary’s Road, Mandaveli and Bheemana Garden Street, Alwarpet.

Says Arul Maran,” A bill will be provided to the donors after we receive their contribution.”

People who wish to contribute towards this can contact the AE (ward 123) at 94451 90423.
