Celebrating work on Indian heritage by Prof. S. Swaminathan: event on Sept.8

Tamil Heritage Trust (THT) is a ten-year-old volunteer organisation, working to create awareness and appreciation of Indian heritage art, and history.  The man behind it is Prof. S. Swaminathan, who taught at IIT, Delhi and retired to Mylapore in 2004.

This resident of D’Silva Road has dedicated himself to giving lectures/talks across India, taking people on intensive heritage tours and bringing out exclusive books on Indian heritage ( Mamallapuram, Ajantha, Sittanavasal).  His one-day tours of Mamallapuram called Mallai Study Tours are sought-after.

To mark the 80th birthday of Swaminathan ( also respected as a philosopher), his well-wishers and THT is hosting an event themed ‘Being Swaminathan’. On Sept.8, 4 p.m. onwards at Tamil Virtual Academy, Kotturpuram.

Besides guests speaking on Swaminathan’s accomplishments, a book on him and his work will be released. The THT- Prof. Swaminathan Heritage award is also being instituted.
