Restoration at heritage church in Luz on at steady pace

Work is on at steady pace in the restoration of the heritage church in Luz called Our Lady of Light Church.

The front end of the church, first built in the early 16th century and enlarged later is now covered in a thatch structure to allow the workers to chip away the exterior.

A few other civil works are also to be executed on this campus including putting up a new boundary wall that allows better view of the church.

Fr. Peter Thumma, parish priest here says he hopes the restoration will be over before Christmas. Over Rs.200 lakhs will be required to fund this project and a notice board lists the main costs budgeted for the project and invites donors to the effort.

Meanwhile, a makeshift shamiana erected on the south side of the church serves as the temporary space, altar and all for the daily Masses and Sunday services.
