Encroachments are back at Ponnambala Vathiyar Street, Mylapore

One day after the Chennai Corporation removed encroachments on Ponambala Vathiyar Street off Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore, some flower shops and pooja items shops are back here.

On Nov. 28, JCB machines were used to clear all the shops on this road. Now, the shop owners have started selling their items on a table that is kept on the roadsides.

The two-wheelers have taken over a section of this road alongside Ambika Appalam shop.

Said a temple-goer, “The Corporation has to monitor the encroachments regularly. They can allocate the hawkers a specific space and ask them not to cross that area.”
