This weekend, give away items you no longer need and get them swapped with the items you might want at Chennai Corporation’s ‘reduce and reuse’ sale.
Also called ‘Swap Shop’ the sale will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 25 and 26 at community hall, next to Mylapore MLA office campus at C.P.Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet.
The civic body aims to sell the donated items at a nominal price. Says a civic official attached to zone 9, “To promote the concept of reuse and reduce, we have kept the prices nominal.” The official adds that the price of each item will not exceed Rs.100.
One can also choose to just donate these items at the sale venue, so people who might want them can pick it up.
People can donate barely used items that are in good condition only. The items include toys, gently used clothes, utensils, electronics in working condition, footwear, backpack, bicycle, umbrella, raincoat, blanket, and bedsheet. On the two days, donations can also be made at the division offices (123,124,125 and 126) of Chennai Corporation (zone 9) Ph: 9445190623.
