Mylapore MLA says his office can receive donations of essentials for poor

Mylapore MLA R. Nataraj says that he is keeping his rooms and the ‘donation box’ open through the day for the Chennai Corporation to stock essentials that will go out to people in need and for Mylaporeans who may want to donate rice, dhal and such stuff for the poor.

He said his office on C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and his staff will facilitate donations and stocking.

The MLA said that people have been calling to say that at some road spots, local police are not allowing people access despite having genuine reasons to be out – to bank, shop, get medicines. He said he would talk to local officers on the issues.

Nataraj said he is keeping an eye on the shelters run by Chennai Corporation for homeless and people who cannot travel home and extend support when required.
