Mylapore wakes up to a less-busy Monday morning: all temples closed, shops open

Mylapore slowly got back to normal times on Monday after the ‘curfew’ imposed on the city on Sunday to battle the virus.

Traffic was less than usual on the main roads but shops had opened up – there was a buzz on Bazaar Road and Kutchery Road.

Vegetable hawkers who had closed on Sunday opened early on Monday on South Mada Street.

Though there was no sign of panic shopping because the city may face a lockdown till March 31, many people were seen at local stores.

All local temples have closed and banners at their gates say so; till a few days ago only a few temples were asked to close. Banners were seen outside Kolavizhi Amman Temple too.
