All is well at two graveyards in the Mylapore neighbourhood which we checked out this morning. We checked out these places this morning following the mob violence that took place around the burial of a city neurosurgeon who succumbed to the virus.
At the Chennai Corporation graveyard on St Mary’s Road in R. A. Puram where a good amount of space is set apart for Christians, a private guard was on duty.
Only a limited number of people are allowed here to take part in burials.
All is quiet at Quibble Island Cemetery in MRC Nagar area.
So is the case at the crematorium in Mylapore, behind the TN Police Headquarters.
Cremations have been taking place smoothly here; there are enough staff here where operations are handled by a private institution. Only cremations here.
