Members of Kalyana Nagar Association distribute provisions to the needy

The members of Kalyana Nagar Association recently distributed provisions to the residents of Foreshore Estate.

T. R. Prakash, secretary of the association says, “We recently distributed rice and other provisions to about 200 families near Foreshore Estate bus stand (next to Sri Karumariamman Temple). We plan to do more in the next few weeks”.

When asked if there was a shortage of essentials in the Mandavelipakkam area, he says, “There was a plan to purchase vegetables in bulk from Koyambedu and deliver it to the seniors in this area but even before the plans could materialize several vendors in this area started door delivery of provisions and vegetables. So as of now there is no shortage of any essentials here”.

He adds, “Government sponsored vegetable mini-trucks were seen stationed at St. Mary’s Road (opposite the cemetery) and on R. K. Mutt Road. These trucks have been making rounds of the Mylapore and Mandaveli area. Residents here have been making use of this facility too as the vegetables are sold at comparatively low prices”.
