Says Shekar Viswanathan of Viswajayam Foundation, “Through the lockdown period we have been providing food to doctors, nurses, sanitation workers and caregivers at the cancer ward of Royapettah government hospital, and Government Children’s hospital, Egmore.  At Government Maternity hospital, Egmore we also provide lunch to mothers who just delivered their babies.

Most of these doctors, nurses, he says work for more than 12 hours a day. “They do not get proper food during the lockdown period. So we collaborated with a corporate kitchen in Injambakkam to provide them with nutritious food thrice a day.”
