Says Chennai Corporation’s sanitary inspector (ward 126) who monitors this virus-positive case, “The person who tested positive is still undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai. His condition is stable now. All his family members and the people he came in touch with have been tested. However, none of them tested positive for the virus.”

The 65-year-old man tested positive for the virus after he came back from New Zealand in mid-March.

Following this, the Corporation started an intensive containment exercise to prevent the spread of the virus around 8 km radius of his house.

His house off San Thome High Road is under home quarantine. “The family members are in isolation. They ensure to stay indoors through the day. All essentials including vegetables are door delivered at their house, ” the Sanitary Inspector says.

He says that police officers and Corporation’s health officials also follow up on the family’s health regularly. “We frequently visit their house to check if they are in quarantine, ” he says.
