Tribute: Senior management consultant T. Satyanarayanan of Mandavelipakkam

Senior management consultant T. Satyanarayanan, 74 years, a resident of Mandavelipakkam,  passed away in Chennai on March 31.

Thummalapalli Satyanarayanan, (Satya to friends) achieved early distinction in his academic life standing state first in mathematics and in engineering science and drawing from The Ramakrishna High School in Madras, in S.S.L.C.

This paved his interest in professional higher education and entry into the prestigious College of Engineering, Guindy, Madras University, ( now Anna University ) for the bachelor of engineering degree, speacilising in mechanical engineering.

Completing this course with a high first class in 1966, Satya joined the country’s Ivy league of management aspirants, the newly opened Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad for the post-graduate diploma in business administration.

Satya was among the batches of students who were taught and mentored by professors from Harvard Business School.

Satya’s skills in management and human development found opportunity with the most sought after employers, Larsen & Toubro and TELCO.

This intense experience paved the way for positions as corporate head –HR in the organizations he was employed with – Tube Investments India Ltd., Sanmar Group and Essar Group.

As an independent senior management consultant, he had a good mix of corporate clients.

His personal interests were playing bridge and reading both fiction and Vedic scriptures.

  1. Sathi was one of the first officers when I joined Telco in 1975. He struck me as a serious but kind, helpful and friendly person, whenever I approached him for advice. My sincere respects and may God grant
