Chennai Corporation has started virus-containment exercise at Mandaveli market after three persons tested virus-positive here. The virus-positive persons are owners of a store in Mandaveli Street.
Now, the civic body has demarcated a 7 km area around this store to form the containment zone. Mandaveli Street is barricaded and people are restricted from going in or out of this street.
Says a Corporation official who manages containment activities here, “Every day, we are disinfecting streets in this containment zone. Our workers have started door to door survey to identify persons with virus symptoms.”
“If anyone is found having the symptoms (cough, fever, breathlessness), they will be sent to sample collection centres at Triplicane or Numgambakkam for testing, ” he says.
