Popular lingerie store opens for business. But precautions in place, says owner.

K. K. Garments, the popular lingerie store in Mylapore has opened two of its outlets today.

Of the two, one at Kutchery Road sells men’s lingerie, and the South Mada Street store sells lingerie for all. Both are open for sales now.

Says Nitesh, one of the owners of the shop, “Regular customers have been dropping in since morning to buy essential stuff. At both shops, we are taking all precautions to avoid virus spread,” he says.

The owners of this shop have 5 outlets in the neighbourhood. However, since lockdown, all have been shut.

Says Nitesh, “We have suffered a huge business loss in the past few weeks. Though we managed to provide salaries to our employees, we have not been able to pay rents for the shops.”

But, in spite of the business loss, Nitesh says they are not keen to open their other outlets. He says, “Business is secondary for us. We want to avoid virus spread due to the opening of our shops. Hence, we are not keen to open our other stores. ”

Based on customer demand, we might open one at East Mada Street, he adds.

In future, when normalcy returns the owners plan to operate with several precautionary measures in place.

Nitesh says, “We plan to operate with only limited staff. Masks and gloves would be compulsory for all. The centralised air conditioner would be switched off to prevent virus spread. At a time, only 4 customers will be allowed with their masks on. Hand sanitisers will be provided to customers at the entrance.”

Their outlets are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ph: 9941084447.
