KVB Gardens continues to be virus hotspot; reports 18 new virus cases in the past 24 hours

KVB Gardens continues to be a virus hot spot, reporting a cluster of cases every day. In the past 24 hours, 18 new virus cases have been reported from this zone

The information regarding these cases was confirmed by Corporation’s animator attached to this ward. The colony reported its first case in early May. Since then, over 50 cases have been reported from this area.

This animator said that the source of infection here was from a vegetable vendor who frequented the Koyembedu vegetable market.

Now, to contain the virus spread, the civic body along with local police have introduced cluster containment activities in this colony.

Says a police officer attached to Abhiramapuram police, who monitors this zone, “To prevent virus spread, police personnel are permanently deployed at 5 points around KVB Gardens. Three are deployed at R.K. Mutt Road and two are standing off Kamarajar Salai. Residents of this area are sent out only if they have a genuine reason to move out. ”

In addition, the Corporation has also arranged mobile vegetable vendors and ATM machines to further reduce movement of people. Also, the civic works are carrying out fever survey in this zone to identify persons with virus symptoms, he says.
