Tulika Books release their first e-book on COVID-19 for children

To make children understand the COVID-19 pandemic, Tulika Books, the popular children’s book publishing house based in Alwarpet has started publishing e-books on the pandemic.

Its first e-book (for children aged 8 and above) in this category is now available for sale at its website.

Titled ‘Zirus the Virus’, the book is written by Zai Whitaker and illustrated by Niloufer Wadia.

Reads a note on Tulika’s website, “The book has a sci-fi take on the COVID-19 pandemic, where acclaimed writer and naturalist Zai Whitaker turns the tables and gives us a viral view of things!”

“Her trademark humour brings on the chuckles, but beneath it are environmental issues rooted in the reality of today (and tomorrow). A hugely entertaining read, and a great kick-off for some serious thought.”

Since lockdown, Tulika has also been doing a number of things to engage children during the pandemic.

Roping in authors, writers and celebrities for online book reading campaigns, holding multilingual storytelling sessions, getting their illustrators to impart simple drawing tutorials are some of them.

Through a recent online session, where their story ‘Go Away Coronavirus’, was widely viewed on social media, the publishing house also attempted to help children understand the current virus situation in a gentle and fun manner.

The book is priced at Rs.75. People who may want to buy the book may visit Tulika’s website https://www.tulikabooks.com/. Tulika also offers a discount on their launch and an exclusive facility for buyers to chat with the author on Saturday (June 27).
