Civic officials sealed the popular China Bazaar ( Aishwarya Store) in the Karpagam Hotel complex on South Mada Street some 48 hrs ago.
Action was taken because the store, which sells A to Z stuff allowed shoppers to crowd inside just hours before closing time and did not make any effort to regulate the shoppers and get them to follow regulations.
A copy of the GCC notice was seen pasted on the shutters.
Many weeks ago, a food and vegetables store at the junction of this street was also shut down, and opened after a day or two. This store had violated rules that exist during the pandemic.
