Shakti provision shop at South Mada Street, Mylapore employs a unique method to prevent crowding.
A few weeks ago, its owners converted the store into an ‘over the counter sales shop’ to avoid big gathering of shoppers.
To facilitate this kind of sales, they put small shelves (that were earlier used inside shop to stock foodstuff) in front of the store (as shown in pic)
They have also kept items like bread, hand wash/sanitisers and milk (that are regularly bought by people, this season) on these shelves so people can easily pick them up.
Says Ramachandran, owner of the store, “Earlier, we let people go around the shop and pick up items they required. However, as ours is a small space, that led to crowding. Hence we made this arrangement.”
