DMK leader M. K. Stalin visited Nochikuppam on the Marina beach side this morning and distributed foodstuff and aid to some 1000 people living in the residential blocks and in other quarters here.
The aid was given to people who were affected by the effect of cyclone Nivar recently.
The South Chennai member of parliament, Thamizhachi Thangapandian of the DMK was also present at this aid-giving event, besides DMK party cadres.
Fishermen in this area did not put out to sea the past three days, heeding warnings from the Met Department of the dangerous weather and high wind speeds.
Also, women who sell fish at the open-air market along the Loop Road could not do business.
