Kauvery Hospital begins vaccine process for its staff but for public, it will start a month later

Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet has started the vaccination programme at the Kauvery COVID-19 Vaccination Centre on its campus.

Photo featured here was taken at this moment at which Dr J Radhakrishnan, health secretary to TN government was present.

But this is now restricted to hospital staff and frontline health workers.

Dr Manivannan Selvaraj, managing director took the first dose of vaccine at the hospital. A media note says that ‘most of our senior consultants/frontline workers have also taken the first dose. He said, ā€¯Currently the vaccine is available only for health workers and front line workers like nurses, sanitary workers and police force.”

The hospital says that it will take a month to bring the vaccine to the public, especially for those above the age of 50.

The vaccines are currently provided free of cost for the health workers and frontline workers.

Two vaccines are approved by the government of India – Covisheild and Covaxine. Either of these will be used.

Kauvery Hospital is on TTK Road, Alwarpet.
